Letter From A Homie (a.k.a One Reason I Moved From Texas to Oregon)
A couple of weeks ago one of our residents (guy in our long-term recovery program) gave me a letter from one of our 'homies.' ('Homie' is our term of affection for the homeless guys who eat, shower and sleep at our shelter.) A volunteer gave it to him; he forgot to give it to one of the team; he found it, finally, and decided to pass it to me. (Whew.) I read it and was pretty undone emotionally. I thought I'd include it here for you all to see why I moved my family from Texas to Oregon to do what I do. (You should be able to click on the link to see full-sized images and read the letters.)
